Relevance

There is a story I love so much. The story of the Hebrew boys and the King with the burning furnace (Daniel 3). This is a story of trust , built on the knowledge of God’s endless love. The king in that day had set up a statue and wanted everyone to worship it and there was a call for the boys to be in the furnace because they did not obey the kings decree. He asked them in verse 15 “who is this god who can rescue you from my power?”. Here we see that he thought that these men were without any power and hope. He wanted to see what they would do. Little did he know that there was a great power with them. They gave their answer in verses 16-18 which got the king even more upset and he asked for the fire to be made hotter than usual. The circumstance at the time made it easy for them to easily just compromise or just give in and bow to the image but rather these men showed their love, faith and stood their ground in God . Hi there,  Happy New and blessed year. Welcome to our first post for the year 2019. We are excited to have you on board with us as we go through what God has in store for us this year.  We would like to tell you about Relevance ; who we are and where we are headed.  Relevance is a ministry called to the service of Christ to help youths know their identity in Christ and find their purpose . A life without purpose is no life at all. The Bible in EPH 1:11 (MSG) says “It is only in Christ we find who we are and what we are living for ”.  Relevance started in 2018 and we have had periodic worship sessions till date. Our Vision: To preach the gospel of Christ; by reaching out to youths to help find their identity and purpose in Christ. Mission: By building a community of believers through Word and Worship. Our goals: 1. Hold monthly worship sessions [Prayer, Bible study and Communion] 2. Visit communities and hold service...

" Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net." LUKE 5:4-5  KJV I n Peter, we first of all see  humility . These men had toiled all night and got nothing. Jesus then asks him to take him into the sea so he could preach. Peter had the choice to say  NO !  I am tired  and then he returns home to rest.  (After-all he had a bad night of not getting anything and also not sleeping.)  He instead makes the  choice  of taking Jesus out to the sea so that his boat could be used as a platform. I believe this was the place that changed Peter’s story. M ost times we hear Pastors and different people talk about how they were placed with the choice of riches, fame, Jesus and other pleasures of the world. Some were confused but others knew what they wanted and went after it. They chose Christ.  It seems nice and great to choose Christ over other things (and it's really great lol) but what we forget is that in choosing Christ, we deny "ourselves". The Bible says anyone who want to follow Christ must first of all deny himself, take up his cross and follow him. (Luke 9:23). Denying self is a great challenge to most of us. Why? What we want and how we want seem to be a major issue for us. We have to come to the point where we realise its not our way anymore but the way of Christ . Not the way of the flesh anymore but the way of the Spirit. We must deny ourself of "ourselves" (if that makes sense) and then follow.  These men and even our ancestors in the faith had to go through this process. We also mu...
