LAUNCH OUT
"Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net."
LUKE 5:4-5 KJV
In Peter, we first of all see humility. These men had toiled all night and got nothing. Jesus then asks him to take him into the sea so he could preach. Peter had the choice to say NO! I am tired and then he returns home to rest. (After-all he had a bad night of not getting anything and also not sleeping.) He instead makes the choice of taking Jesus out to the sea so that his boat could be used as a platform. I believe this was the place that changed Peter’s story.
As Jesus gets done he tells Peter, “Launch out into the deep and let down your net for a draught…”. We see Jesus here giving the command and Peter starts showing signs of small doubt but then he says
“nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net…”. There must have been something he saw or perceived about Jesus.
Many of us are still stuck on doubts and the past. Our past has put us in a place of fear that we are even scared to do what God has called us to do. Also most times we use physical strength and our "OWN" ability to do things and we don’t rely on the sufficiency of Gods grace. When these things do not work, we break down and become scared.
So we remain at this place, then God calls us to do what we are meant to do and then we become afraid and in doubt that the assignment may or may not work out.
After Jesus gave the command, Peter had the choice to say no, there were no fishes and he would like to go home but he said and I love this “…at thy word I will let down the net.” He let the net down and he had a bountiful harvest. When God gives the word there is bound to be a harvest and fulfilment.
When God calls you to launch out, you better launch out. When he says go, you better go! Any command or mission he sends you on cannot fail as long as he sends you.
So will the words that come out of my mouth
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.
We are called for so much more but fear and doubt can keep us in a place where we are just stagnant. The choices we make matter a whole lot. Even as youths, the choices we make most especially in kingdom matters go a long way.
Do we choose to follow the voice of Christ and go deeper with him or do we decide to stay in the past out of fear and frustration?
Remember your choices matter. Choose to launch out and go with Christ!
